She’s the choice of a new generation: Pepsi, an 11-month-old Aussiedoodle, has been voted Minnesota Energy Resources’ next safe digging ambassadog.

The pup from Albert Lea will use her bubbly personality to remind customers to call 811 at least two days before they dig.

Minnesota Energy Resources customers and dog lovers alike cast thousands of votes in this year’s contest, with Pepsi coming out on top.

Pepsi, affectionately nicknamed “the Excavator,” will spend the next year as the star of a social media campaign designed to remind people to dig safely.

In addition to digging, Pepsi’s humans say she loves to play chase, go to the dog park, chew on pop bottles and eat pizza left on the counter.
