Minnesota Energy Resources is alerting customers in Willow River, Sturgeon Lake and Finlayson that they may now raise their thermostats to their desired temperature and begin to use all of their natural gas appliances.

Around 650 customers lost service Friday afternoon due to damage on a Northern Natural Gas (NNG) interstate pipeline. That NNG pipeline provides natural gas to the Minnesota Energy Resources system.

NNG provided a temporary supply of natural gas to help homes and businesses stay warm over the weekend. To ensure reliability, customers were asked to keep their thermostat at 60 degrees and avoid using nonessential natural gas appliances.

NNG has now established a more permanent fuel supply, meaning customers can go back to using natural gas as usual.

Minnesota Energy Resources appreciates customers’ patience during this disruption and will continue to provide updates as they become available.
